After the acquisition, our team landed inside EA right as social gaming peaked. From there you could watch the whole bubble at once. Zynga’s numbers defied gravity, every studio bolted ‘social’ onto its slate, and packaged games began their long decline.
Big companies teach what startups can’t: portfolio thinking, brand discipline at scale, and how many people it takes to say yes. I banked the lessons and left to found my own company while the bubble still had air in it.
