Helium

VP of Product & Technology

US cities at network launch
425+
Role
VP Product & Technology · Foundation board

Helium built a wireless network no telecom would: hotspots owned by regular people, paid in tokens for providing coverage. As VP of Product & Technology I helped take the network live. By November 2019 it covered 425+ US cities.

This was the crypto bubble from the inside. Token incentives can bootstrap real infrastructure astonishingly fast, and they attract speculation just as fast. Both things are true at once, and running product for users who are also your investors is an education you can’t buy.

After my operating role I served on the Helium Foundation board. Helium is also where old threads reconnected: Amir Haleem, my Diversion co-founder, was CEO, and Shawn Fanning was among the founders. Small industry, long game.

Guided tours

Prefer a curated route? Each tour visits the timeline machine by machine. In the game they play as quests.

The timeline as text

Everything in the archive, grouped by bubble rather than by date: all the crypto work together, all the AI work together. The game keeps the strict timeline.

The AI bubble

The current bet, plus the vision-AI years at Lumeo that came before the wave had a name. Product, story, and brand on top of working code.
