Matrix homeserver in Rust
Maelstrom is my long-running open-source bet on decentralized communication: a Matrix homeserver in Rust, first released in 2020 and credited on matrix.org’s official servers list.
The revived architecture aims at serious scale. Stateless clustering on Tokio and Axum, graph-native storage on SurrealDB, so a homeserver can grow horizontally instead of vertically.
It’s the purest expression of a theme that runs through this whole shelf: communication infrastructure should be something you can own.
